Why Chinese Herbal Teas Are the Ultimate Skin Booster

Did you know your tea can do more than just warm you up? In Chinese traditions, herbal teas are cherished not only for their soothing qualities but also for their ability to enhance skin health and balance the body.

Understanding Hot and Cold in Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) categorizes foods and drinks, including teas, as either "hot" or "cold," based on their effects on the body’s energy balance. For instance, "hot" teas like ginger tea are believed to stimulate circulation and combat cold-related ailments, while "cold" teas like chrysanthemum tea are thought to cool the body and reduce inflammation.

Maintaining this balance is essential for overall health, including your skin’s condition.

The Power of Facial Massage: Techniques for Glowing Skin

One of the simplest yet most effective beauty tips I’ve learned is the power of facial massage. It’s a technique that’s been passed down through generations and is known for boosting circulation, promoting lymphatic drainage, and leaving your skin with a natural, healthy glow.

I love incorporating it into my routine, especially in the morning, to start the day with a refreshed, bouncy complexion. You can use your hands and tap your products into your skin or a jade roller—whatever feels best for you. Then in the evening, after taking your makeup off, use a facial oil (I like Rosehip Oil) and massage into your face and neck.

It's a small ritual that makes a big difference, and it only takes a few minutes!

My Dad’s ABC Soup

One of my favorite soups growing up was my dad’s homemade vegetable and pork bone broth. It was a comforting dish that always felt like a warm hug in a bowl. It was a staple for my daughters too, which I mixed with rice to make it a wholesome, nourishing meal. It wasn’t until I moved to Singapore that I discovered this delicious soup is called ABC soup, named for its abundance of vitamins A, B, and C.

It’s amazing how a simple dish can carry so much tradition and nutrition. For me, it’s a reminder of the care and love passed down through generations—nourishing both body and soul.

Here is a recipe I followed. You can really add any vegetable you have. I also like to add ginger and goji berries to mine for it healing properties.
